In Greece everyone respects the afternoon sleep.  It’s the official siesta time. Everyone but Tzitzikas. He prefers to make his daily vocal exercises with a continuous zzzzzz!

Tzitzikas (cicada) is really an amazing creature.  Lots of stories have been written for it in the Greek literature. ” Tzitzikas and Mermigas “(“Cicada and the Ant“) is a famous kids story.  It stresses the work consciousness of the ant and the lazy character of cicada.  In this story, Ant is always busy storing his food for the winter. At the same time, Cicada doesn’t care at all about the winter to come and all he wants to do is to sing.

Tzitzikas, however, is not alone in this summer Talents Show.  Whatever Tzitzikas is doing during midday time, Grylos (cricket) opts to do it by night.  They only differ on the tonality of their performance.  Perhaps Grylos on his Night Concerts does not want to copy the allegro character of Eine kleine Nachtmusic and prefers to play it naturally in a minor tonality.
