Byzantine Church in the Castle of Monemvasia

The Medieval Castle Town of Monemvasia was founded in the 6th century BC.  It is located on the rock-islet which is connected to the mainland with a bridge.

Monemvasia offers an Archaeological Museum full of treasures, a very large number of churches most of them now in ruins, stone paved streets, magnificent architecture and fortress walls.
