Meze – tiny bites of Greek delicacies

Nobody leaves Spain without having tasted some Tapas. Well, the same is also true for the Meze dish in Greece.

Just as Tapas, Meze consists of a tiny quantity of appetizers or snacks from a large variety of dishes that may be served cold or hot.  Meze can be as simple as a dish containing cheese and pickled gherkins; or a much more elaborated dish with shrimps and other seafood delicacies.

Meze is served sometimes as a starter dish while waiting for the main dish. More often, however, it is served as an accompaniment dish for an alcoholic drink; usually ouzo or beer.
